I've become more and more liberal, especially over the past seven years of Der Fuhrer Bush. Before the first Presidential election my dad (bigtime Republican) took me aside and told me it was all about how much government you want in your life - so I voted for Bush Senior, who I still have respect for; but after that I realized that the type of government involvement I disagreed with wasn't the creation of social programs or taxes but with constrictions on freedoms on how we are allowed to live our lives.
As for political apathy, the sheer fact that you even looked at Obama's book puts you far and beyond the average American's effort.
You're also not the only one with an arrested development in terms of music - I've been filling up my new iPod and with a exceptions, I think my musical tastes stopped around 1999.

Although I usually vote Republican, I think Hillary has the backbone to be a good President. My own choice is Guiliani - tough foreign policy, liberal social policy.
I think McCain would be a decent President but I hear he's getting pretty frail. And I like Thompson. Obama I think is a bit of a lightweight.

I voted for Michael Dukakis in '88, Bill Clinton in '92 and '96, Harry Browne in '00 and whomever the Libertarians fielded in '04 (can't even remember the poor bastard's name now).
Obama, McCain and Thompson are interesing but I think the establishment candidates in their parties will steamroller them (although Obama's Maine campaign has raised more money than Hillary's).
I think they're referring to people in retirement, not guys of 31. You're supposed to be liberal. Bush saw to that. You don't have to tell your parents either. Let them think you're still a Grand Rapids kind of guy.
